if people can’t go to either site and put search “banaba” they have bigger problems than gout lol. incidentally your post from 6 years ago about toxicity was literally a simple statement by some random person not even remotely connected to anything scientific? You can search the statement “Banabas are extremely poisonous alone.” This is unequivocally untrue even in high doses…
natesnathanParticipantThey’ve been using banaba in the philippines for hundreds of years with success on blood sugar control. There is no toxicity known. Only recently have there been clinical trials on blood sugar and XO inhibition. It states on drugs.com and web MD no toxicity although there may be contraindications in combinations with other drugs. My last test before getting on allopurinol was 8.8 on it i was 5. i started taking banaba after quitting allopurinol and my UA held at 5. i’ll wait a couple months and see if it holds then post the numbers.

Make sure you take copper as this is the reason you are absorbing Iron in the first place. After 35 with testosterone loss you decrease copper absorption thus increase Iron absorption. There is an Oxford study done on humans “in vivo” on phlebotomy and remission of gout. Basically it says to get below 100 for rh- and 80 RH+for Also while Green Tea is a great Iron chelation mechanism stdies on wheat grass have shown to kick Irons ass. I read a study on pub med how it actually shown on par with prescription chelators. I’ve recently started on allopurinol but I’ve also started reducing my ferritin levels as well. I tested ferritin at 400 which is high, uric acid was 6.9. I plan on getting ferritin down to 100 but while I’m lowering it taking allopurinol.

Most rheumatologists will prescribe colchicine one a day for 6 months while starting UA lowering therapy. This acts as prophylaxis to gout flares. I just started lowering therapy and was taking colchicine and felt pretty good so I stopped and although my UA went from 7.3 to 5.1 in a month I got a nasty flare in my left knee and foot. I immediately started taking it and already feel better. I’m going to take it until my UA is under 5 and no flares for a few months. I’m also giving blood until my ferritin levels get below 125
